It’s great to see Chicago back in the West End. It’s certainly a show that enjoy revisiting every now and again and I’m sure that this revival will be a crowd pleaser.

Chicago returns to London’s Phoenix Theatre
Following a five and a half year absence, Chicago the musical returns to London’s West End as the show celebrates its 21st Anniversary. Now the longest-running American musical in history, Chicago will open at the Phoenix Theatre from 26 March 2018. Chicago originally opened at the Adelphi Theatre in 1997 to rave reviews, winning the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production. It transferred to the Cambridge Theatre in April 2006, then transferred to the Garrick Theatre until September 2012. It’s fifteen year run made Chicago the West End’s longest-running revival. She even posted footage on her Instagram page! Chicago New Wimbledon Theatre 23rd February 2016 5 Stars UK Tour – Buy Tickets Having Razzle Dazzled the UK for years Chicago is back on tour around the UK, and this current production is set to remind us why this incredible score by John Kander and Fred Ebb is considered a classic of its time. Set in prohibition-era Chicago (1920’s), the musical is based on a play by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, and loosely based on the crimes she covered for her paper. When it originally opened on Broadway, the show ran for a respectable 936 performances, it was only when revived in 1996, that the show proved to be a massive hit – Chicago had come of age and this story of greed, corruption celebrity criminals and trial by media took the world by storm. For 90 minutes of ecstatic storytelling, you are transported to a place where love, death and consequence are dancing together and where a victory for true love might just not be what you first think it will. Chita Rivera, an incandescent star of the Broadway stage in undiminished glory, is faultless. One of the best of Kander & Ebb’s musicals, The Visit is the best, most important, musical currently playing on Broadway.
