Elaine Paige is to perform a series of concerts nationwide which will see her perform songs from her illustrious career as well as songs from her favourite contemporary songwriters. Elaine Paige is the UK’s first lady of musical theatre having originated the title role in Evita and Florence in Chess both at the Prince Edward Theatre and Grizabella in Cats at the New London Theatre. Her stage credits include Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Follies, Piaf and Sunset Boulevard amongst others. Elaine Paige will also appear in Christmas pantomime spectacular Dick Whittington this Christmas at the London Palladium. Elaine Paige has announced that she will be performing a series of concerts around the UK later this year. The tour will be called Elaine Paige – Stripped Back, and will feature Elaine performing her favourite songs, by her favourite songwriters. Elaine will be backed by a small group of musicians and will perform in some of the UK’s most beautiful venues. Stripped Back follows Elaine’s last solo tour which saw her saw farewell to full scale touring as she celebrated her 50 year career. Nicole Scherzinger made her theatrical stage debut as the London Palladium last night playing Grizabella in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. This special revival is playing at the London Palladium for a limited run and re-unites the shows original creative team of Director Trevor Nunn, Choreographer Gillian Lynne, and Designer John Napier who have given the show a face lift 33 years after it first opened at the New London Theatre. Cats was to become one of the longest-running shows on Broadway and in the West End winning major theatrical awards worldwide with a combined audience of over 50 million people and counting. Last night’s audience included Elaine Paige who originated the role of Grizabella in 1981 and the composers family. Don’t miss out on seeing this classic musical in its revamped glory.
