Producers have announced that Danny Mac has been cast as Joe Gillis in the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard alongside Ria Jones who is playing Norma Desmond. Most recently Danny Mac captured the nation’s hearts and received overwhelming support during his incredible time on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing making it all the way to the final. This month he stars as Gabey in On The Town at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. His other musical theatre credits include Wicked and Legally Blonde. With an incredible Bernstein score and Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie directing and choreographing, On The Town hits Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London on May 19. They have now released these great rehearsal pictures for what is set to be the venue’s biggest dance musical yet. We are pleased to bring you these great rehearsal photographs by Johan Persson. Danny Mac, Fred Haig and Samuel Edwards play Gabey, Chip and Ozzie – roles made famous on film by Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munshin – and Siena Kelly, Lizzy Connolly and Miriam-Teak Lee take the roles of Ivy, Hildy and Claire. Producers have announced today that the forthcoming production of Sleepless The Musical which was to have starred Danny Mac, Carley Stenson Jenny Dale and Cory English has been postponed. The statement today cited “illness within the producers family and overwhelming unexpected circumstances” as the reason for the cancellation, adding that they hope to have further news of the production next year. The world premiere of Sleepless was to be presented by Michael Rose and David Shor, in association with Marc Toberoff and the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin; a Theatre Royal Plymouth production. Curve’s artistic director, Nikolai Foster, has revealed the full company for his new production of the award-winning West End and Broadway smash hit musical comedy, Legally Blonde. The cast includes Tupele Dorgu who will play Paulette. Dorgu’s television credits include Kelly Crabtree in Coronation Street, Billionaire Boy, Cucumber, All at Sea,Waterloo Road and Merseybeat. Her theatre credits include Educating Rita (Garrick Theatre), Chicago (UK Tour) and Mamma Mia (Prince of Wales Theatre). Dorgu joins Lucie Jones as Elle Woods, Ian Kelsey as Callahan, Jon Robyns as Emmett, Danny Mac as Warner, Natalie Hope as Brooke, Phoebe Street as Vivienne and Francesca Hoffman as Margot.
