Director Marianne Elliott is to receive an OBE for Services to Theatre in the 2018 Queens Birthday Honours list. Marianne Elliott, who is currently in New York for the 2018 Tony Awards, where her production of Angels in America has been nominated for an unprecedented 11 awards, including Best Director and Best Revival, said: “When I was a child, growing up in Stockport, I never thought it was even possible for a young woman to become a theatre director, let alone be blessed with the career I have had. Mel Giedroyc joins the cast of Company at the Gieldgud Theatre

Mel Giedroyc will join the cast of Marianne Elliott’s upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s musical Company at the Gielgud Theatre. Mel Giedroyc is to play  Sarah joining Rosalie Craig as Bobbi and Broadway’s Patti LuPone as Joanne when Company opens at the Gielgud Theatre from 26 September 2018.  This production sees the central role of Bobby re-imagined as Bobbi, the first time this role will have been played by a woman with the blessing of Stephen Sondheim.
