New Truly And Childcatcher As Chitty Lands in Edinburgh
Music and Lyrics and West Yorkshire Playhouse, producers of the UK National tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, have announced new casting for the roles of Truly Scrumptious and The Childcatcher when the show arrives in Edinburgh this October. Charlotte Wakefield is to play the role of Truly Scrumptious. Charlotte made her West End debut at 18 playing Wendla Bergman in Spring Awakening. Charlotte played Maria in The Sound Of Music at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre to critical acclaim, and played Laurey in the 2015 UK Tour of Oklahoma, and Sophie in the the West End and International Tour productions of Mamma Mia!. Jos Vantyler will also join the cast as the Childcatcher. Carrie Hope Fletcher and Shaun Williamson join The Cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang On Tour.
Further casting has been announced for the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Carrie Hope Fletcher (Les Miserables) will play Truly Scrumptious from 4th May until 2 October. Shaun Wiliamson (Eastenders) will play Lord Scrumptious/Barom Bomburst from 4th May until 21 August. Phil Jupitus (the Producers. Hairspray) who is currently playing the roles of Lord Scrumptious and Baron Bomburst returns to the show from August 24. Lee Mead (Casualty, Legally Blonde, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) will play Caractacus Potts from 4 May until 18 September, with Jason Manford (The Producers, Sweeney Todd ) returning to the role, which he is currently playing, from 21 September.
