Anna O’Byrne cast in first London revival of The Woman In White

Anna O'Byrne to star in The Woman In White

Producers have announced that acclaimed musical theatre star Anna O’Byrne will play the lead role of Laura Fairlie in the first ever revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Olivier Award-nominated musical The Woman In White at the Charing Cross Theatre. Anna O’Byrne played Christine in the hugely successful Australian premiere of Love Never Dies, which was later filmed for DVD release. Andrew Lloyd Webber then brought  Anna to London to make her West End debut in The Phantom of the Opera. The recipient of the 2017 Helpmann Award for Best Actress – the Australian equivalent of the Olivier Awards – Anna received the award for her performance as Eliza Doolittle in the sold-out 60th anniversary production of My Fair Lady at Sydney Opera House. Producers have announced that Andy Coxon will join the cast of the upcoming 50th Anniversary cast of Hair the Musical. Andy has recently been seen in the West End productions of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical and Les Miserables. He is currently appearing in Yank! the musical at Charing Cross Theatre. As relevant today as it was 50 years ago, this new acclaimed production directed by Jonathan O’Boyle is transferring from the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester. This production of Hair is to be presented at The Vaults which is to be transformed into a fully immersive 60’s experience. The cast has been announced for the world premiere of a new stage adaptation of Jack Rosenthal’s classic British film, The Knowledge. Steven Pacey, Celine Abrahams, James Alexandrou, Jenna Augen, Louise Callaghan, Ben Caplan, Michael Chance, Alice Felgate and Fabien Frankel have joined the show which runs at Charing Cross Theatre from 4 September to 11 November. It will be directed by Maureen Lipman who not only played one of the lead roles in the film but is also the widow of Jack Rosenthal. It has been adapted for the stage by Simon Block. The 1979 movie, which also starred Nigel Hawthorne, follows the hilarious struggles of four Londoners as they attempt to better themselves by attempting the fearsome “Knowledge” – the process of becoming a London black cab taxi driver.   Maureen Lipman is to direct the world stage premiere of Jack Rosenthal’s The Knowledge at the Charing Cross Theatre in September 2017. Based on the iconic 1979 film which Lipman played a leading role in, The Knowledge has special significance for Lipman as she is Rosenthal’s widow. Set against the backdrop of the harsh economic times in 1979, the play follows the hilarious struggles of four Londoners as they attempt to better themselves by attempting the fearsome “Knowledge” – the process of becoming a London black cab driver.
