As we settle into our Christmas Day schedules with family here in the UK, spare a thought for our Broadway counterparts, many of whom are performing in shows today. A massive 17 Broadway shows will perform today (Thursday 25th December) many at 7pm or 8pm, including Cinderella, Disgraced, Honeymoon in Vegas, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Les Miserables, On the Town, Side Show, Beautiful, Chicago, The Elephant Man, Matilda, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, Pippin, Rock of Ages, Wicked and Motown. Last year in the holiday season over 1 million people saw a Broadway show grossing $113.5 million according to the Broadway League. Beautiful – The Carole King Musical is the untold story of her journey from school girl to superstar; from her relationship with husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, their close friendship and playful rivalry with fellow song-writing duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, to her remarkable rise to stardom. Along the way, she became one of the most successful solo acts in music history, and wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Katie Brayben will play the title role of Carole King. Full casting has now been announced for Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. Joining Katie Brayben is Ian McIntosh as song-writer Barry Mann. As previously announced the leading cast members also include Alan Morrissey as King’s husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin, Lorna Want as song-writer Cynthia Weil, Glynis Barber as Genie Klein, King’s mother, and Gary Trainor as music publisher and producer Don Kirshner. Vivien Carter, Ed Currie, Oliver Lidert, Fela Lufadeju, Tanya Nicole-Edwards, Terel Nugent , Jay Perry, Tanisha Spring, Lucy St. Louis, Danielle Steers, Dylan Turner and Joanna Woodwood will play iconic musical performers and band members of the era. Tickets On Sale Today for Beautiful The Musical

Tickets went on sale for the smash hit musical Beautiful which opens next February at London’s Aldwych Theatre. Beautiful tells the story of Carole King, one of the most prolific and successful songwriters of modern times. King’s catalogue of songs became the soundtrack of a generation and included hits like The Locomotion, Natural Woman, You’ve Got A Friend and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.
