Anna Kendrick makes a marvellous Cinderella, a precise balance between fairytale character and real human. Her scenes with Blunt are wonderful and, for me anyway, Steps of the Palace is the highlight of the film. Chris Pine is terrific and happily sends himself up mercilessly, and to great comic effect, in Agony. Meryl Streep is, throughout, mesmerising.
The first full length official trailer for the movie adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s The The Last Five Years has been released. Starring Jeremy Jordan and Anna Kendrick, the movie is due for release on February 14th in the USA but no official release date has been confirmed for the UK. We thought you would appreciate a sneak peek at the movie. Enjoy!
A new trailer for Into The Woods has been released today with a lot more singing than previous releases. This latest trailer features the title song from the musical as well as Stay With Me, sung by Meryl Streep as the witch. It’s a beautifully constructed clip which makes it clear that happily ever after may not be exactly what you had wished for. Starring Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Johnny Depp and Chris Pine amongst others, we can’t wait for Jan 9, 2015!
For musical theatre fans it’s been a long wait but it was announced at the weekend that the film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years will premier at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7 with general release due early next year. Entertainment Weekly managed to get this exclusive preview of the film before a trailer has been released. Starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, The Last Five Years follows a couples five year relationship almost exclusively through song but with the unique plot device of the story being told from two different timelines. Cathy’s (Kendrick) parts begin at the end of the relationship whilst Jamie’s (Jordan) begin at the start of it, with the storyline colliding when Jamie proposes. Enjoy this sneak peak. We’ll bring you more as it’s released.
