Plaid Tidings to have UK premiere at Bridge House Theatre

Plaid Tidings – the sequel to the West End hit Forever Plaid will have its UK premiere at London’s Bridge House Theatre.

Plaid Tidings Bridge House Theatre

You may have thought The Plaids had finaly departed for the here after but you’d be wrong. They’re back just in time for Christmas with Plaid Tidings at London’s Bridge House Theatre from 26 November to 23 December 2018.

Plaid Tidings is a ‘Heaven Sent’ festive treat which is fantastically funny, beautifully sung and takes the audience on a journey to a more innocent time, a time when Christmas was all about family, friendship and good will. The venue’s 5th Christmas UK premiere in as many years, previous critically-acclaimed shows have included It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol … More or Less, Another Night Before Christmas (named The Best Festive Show in the UK by BroadwayWorld) and last year’s A Miracle on 34th Street.

The Plaids success story is a truly unique one. Killed on the eve of their biggest performance, after a collision with a school bus containing kids heading to see The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show – the kids survive …  The Plaids sadly do not! To their surprise they are sent back to the earth to give a concert, to test their worthiness to be the eternal guardians of harmony! Having successfully completed this extraordinary challenge, the Plaids are granted tenure in the Celestial Cosmos – or so they believe…However on a cold and wintery December night, through a rip in the Earth’s Ozone The Plaids are sent back for a second time – the reason why, none of them understand! Through a series of clues and an uncanny capacity to keep referring to the Christmas season, they realise their reason for returning is to bring festive cheer to an uncertain World – by performing the ultimate TV Christmas Special – An evening filled with beautifully harmonised Yuletide songs and tales of Christmases past, a show they endlessly talked about but never were able to achieve whilst alive! Only if this is accomplished can our Plaids discover the real reason for their return and finally find peace.

The UK premiere of Plaid Tidings will star Alex Bloomer (Spot’s Birthday Party, UK tour, Dear Santa, Horsham), Joshua Da Costa (Middala & cover Mafala Hatimbi, The Book of Mormon, Willy, Showboat, Roy Wright, The Scottsboro Boys, all West End), Laurie Denman (Timothy, Salad Days (Union Theatre & Theatre Royal Bath) and Kris Marc-Joseph (Rothschild & Sons, Park Theatre, Yank!  Hope Mill/Charing Cross Theatre).

Plaid Tidings by Stuart Ross is directed by Guy Retallack, musical direction by Laurie Denman, and choreography by Paul Harris.
