The Production of Hairspray West End has become the latest victim of COVID guidelines as the acclaimed production at the London Coliseum has announced it will temporarily shut down from 4 – 13 July 2022.

Producers released the following message:-

“Unfortunately, despite extremely robust measures being in place, a member of the Hairspray production team has sadly tested positive for Covid-19. To ensure that we are adhering to the strictest of protocols, this means that all performances are cancelled up to and including Tuesday 13 July. Our next performance will be the matinee performance on Wednesday 14 July.

We want to reassure all of our audiences that due to the strict processes we have in place at the London Coliseum, this registered case will not have come into contact with anyone visiting the venue and we are confident that we have adhered to all the required health and safety requirements. The safety of our customers remains our number one priority”.

Ticketholders will be contacted by ticket agencies to re-arrange tickets.

More information will be posted as it comes to hand.

Douglas Mayo BritishTheatre.com’s Managing Editor adds “As a patron who saw Hairspray the musical in the West End on Friday night, I was impressed by the level of care and professionalism shown by staff of the London Coliseum and their efforts to keep audiences safe.”
