Stuck between the gender binary and armed with only a pair of boxers and a photo of a male model, one individual sets out on a violently hilarious attempt to fit.

A one-person gender-messing physical comedy exploring gender expression and identity through slapstick and wit. Devised drawing upon the performer’s experience of chest dysphoria and gender identity. With a warm-hearted tone and no spoken text, S/he/it Happens is a subtly trans performance that explores the lengths we go to change our bodies.

Creator and performer of the show, Miranda Porter (pronouns they/them) is an emerging artist who studied at Rose Bruford College, graduating in 2017.

Additionally, they have trained with Philippe Gaulier, Angela de Castro and at ESAD Murcia in Spain. They recently worked as assistant director on Wild Life by The Ding Foundation. S/he/it Happens is their first solo show and has been developed with mentors from the Finnish/NZ contemporary circus company Kallo Collective (Only Bones, Edinburgh Fringe 2016 & London International Mime Festival 2017).

S/he/it is performed at The Cat's Back, Wandsworth: 4th May – 9:30pom & 20th May – 6:30pm and Junkyard Dogs, Brighton: 7th May & 17th May – 6:45pm & 25th May – 9:30pm
