Mark Ludmon sifts through the theatre highlights of Wandsworth Arts Fringe Wandsworth Arts Fringe is back, bringing a packed programme of shows to locations across the south London borough from Battersea and Balham to Putney and Tooting. Running from 4 to 20 May, it features more than 170 events from circus, comedy and spoken work to free music workshops, dance and an outdoor carnival. Shillington Park in Battersea will come to life with a dazzling circus in a new purpose-built big top, while The Errant Stage will travel around the borough showcasing the best of the fest. One of the hubs for fringe theatre will be Upstairs at The Cat’s Back in Point Pleasant in Wandsworth in a takeover by Fragility, a partnership of performers based in London. Now in its 6th year, Aria Entertainment have announced details of the From Page To Stage Festival of New Musical Theatre 2018. Aria Entertainment’s thriving new musical theatre festival, From Page To Stage returns for its 6th year, with submissions now open. This year’s festival will take place in September at Southwark Playhouse, and follows the hugely successful 2017 festival, which took place at The Other Palace, and received over 300 submissions from across the UK and internationally. From Page To Stage 2018 will showcase each step of how an original musical is developed, from a song-writing showcase, to full staged readings of new musicals. Faced with a bumper 160-page brochure and a packed What’s On section online, we provide our selection of some of the theatre highlights of this year’s Brighton Fringe. Running from May 4 to June 3, this year’s festival features over 4,000 performances across 155 venues, from local theatre companies and touring shows to new writing and old favourites, plus a selection of work coming out of Amsterdam Fringe. After This intriguing concept features one short play that is performed twice – by a mother, played by Syreeta Kumar, with her daughter, and by a father, played by Tom Dussek, with his son. Nominations Announced for Tony Awards 2018

The full list of nominations for the Tony Awards 2018 were announced this morning with SpongeBob SquarePants the musical, and Mean Girls leading a pack which saw several nominations going to British performers and productions. The Tony Awards ceremony on June 10 will be hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban. For the Brits, the National Theatre’s production of Angels In America scooped 11 nominations (the most nominated play in Tony history) with the blockbuster Harry Potter and the Cursed Child earning ten nominations.
