INTERVIEW: Andy Moss Talks About Ghost

Book tickets for Ghost UK Tour

How exciting is it to be doing Ghost – The Musical? So exciting! I did a few things just after I left college but nothing of note so this is my first treading of the boards since then. I’m so excited but it’s also a bit nerve-wracking – not the idea of performing in front of an audience but because it’s such an iconic role. Patrick Swayze’s shoes are big shoes to fill, for sure, and my mate Richard Fleeshman did Sam in the original West End production and he was amazing too. So there’s a bit of pressure but we’ve not gone for a carbon copy of either the West End or Broadway versions. What was it about this particular show that made you say yes? Number one, I’m a massive fan of the movie. Number two, I’ve been dying to get back on stage for a while now. … Read more

UPCOMING: Cases at The Phoenix Artists Club

Cases by Dominic Powell

Cases Phoenix Artist Club Sunday 12th February 2017 A new work by the breathtakingly talented Dominic Powell (who is barely into his third decade) is always a cause for celebration, and there was plenty of that in the below-stairs cabaret beside the Phoenix Theatre a few weekends ago, when he unveiled his latest festival of song. On hand to deliver this cycle of musical moments from his newest show were the terrific voices of Bobbie Little, Christina Matavu, Nicholas McLean, Jordan Shaw and ‘narrator’ Brandon Lee Henry. The band was made up of Powell on keyboard, one Powell senior on guitar, and another on kahoon. Typically for Dominic, it was a neat, well thought-out and very effective presentation. Cultivating a very commercial ‘American’ sound, the opening number – the title song – seemed to have emerged via any number of drama school productions of ‘Rent’. But it was more artful, … Read more

FIRST LOOK: Lizzie, Greenwich Theatre

Book tickets for Lizzie at Greenwich Theatre

BritishTheatre.com is pleased to bring you these great first look production photos from Lizzie by Soren Malmose now playing at the Greenwich Theatre. On a sweltering summer morning in 1892, in a small New England city, a prominent businessman and his wife were axed to death in their home. Their daughter Lizzie Borden was the prime suspect. Lizzie’s trial was a coast-to-coast media sensation, and her story has become an American legend. Lizzie is four women fronting a six-piece rock band. Lizzie is rage, sex, betrayal, and bloody murder. Lizzie is American mythology set to a blistering rock score. Lizzie is a new American musical with a sound owing less to Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber than to Bikini Kill, the Runaways, and Heart. Lizzie runs at Greenwich Theatre until 12 March 2017. She even posted footage on her Instagram page! The tradition of a bit of onstage nonsense during the last matinee of the last few shows happens a lot but usually not at the expense of the experience of the audience or in any way that is overtly noticeable by the audience. Chicago, the musical by Broadway veterans John Kander and Fred Ebb is considered a classic and in the past and its two … Read more
