  Wicked is to become the 16th longest running show in West End history tonight when it plays its 4567th performance at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Wicked which recently announced a major UK tour surpasses Billy Elliot. The multi award-winning musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman based on Gregory Maquire’s novel. Wicked currently stars Alice Fearn (Elphaba), Sophie Evans (Glinda), Bradley Jaden (Fiyero), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Morrible), Andy Hockley (The Wizard), Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond), Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose), Jack Lansbury (Boq), Laura Pick (Standby for Elphaba) and Carina Gillespie (Standby for Glinda). We are pleased to bring you these production images by Matt Crockett from the new London cast of Wicked the musical at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Now in its 11th year, the critically acclaimed,smash-hit musical is now the 17th longest running show in West End Theatre history. These first pictures show Alice Fearn (Elphaba), Sophie Evans (Glinda), Bradley Jaden (Fiyero), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Morrible), Andy Hockley (The Wizard) and Jack Lansbury (Boq) who will lead the new London cast from 24 July 2017 at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, joining current cast members Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond) and Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose) who take to the stage on Monday 24 July 2017. It’s been great to see two relatively new musicals make it into our  Top 100 Greatest Musicals Poll. Firstly with Hamilton and now taking our Number Two spot – Wicked! Based on the book Wicked: The Life And Times Of The Wicked Witch Of The West by Gregory Maguire, Wicked the musical has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. Wicked arrived on Broadway in 2003 at the Gershwin Theatre where it still resides after a try-out in San Francisco with a cast including Kristen Chenoweth as Glinda, Idina Menzel as Elphaba and Joel Grey as The Wizard. Now in its 11th smash hit year at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, the producers of Wicked have announced that Alice Fearn (Elphaba) and Sophie Evans (Glinda) will lead the new cast who start performances on Monday 24 July 2017. Also joining the cast are Bradley Jaden (Fiyero), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Morrible), Andy Hockley (The Wizard), Jack Lansbury (Boq) and Laura Pick (Standby for Elphaba), joining current cast members Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond), Sarah McNicholas (Nessarose) and Carina Gillespie (Standby for Glinda). Alice Fearn (Elphaba) originally joined the London production of Wicked in 2016, as Standby for Elphaba, and will now assume the role. Wicked To Tour The UK And Ireland From February 2018

The producers of Wicked have confirmed today that the musical will return for a tour of the UK and Ireland from February 2018. Currently the 17th longest-running show in London theatre history, Wicked recently celebrated 10 years of performances at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Wicked has now been seen by over 50 million people around the world, winning over 100 major theatre awards. The international touring production is currently playing in Hong Kong, It then transfers to Manila, Shanghai and Beijing before returning to the UK. The 2018 tour will play in Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Dublin, Sunderland, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester. It’s time for celebrations as Wicked celebrates its 10th Birthday at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre tonight. The musical which chronicles the untold story of the Witches Of Oz, Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, has delighted audiences since it opened. Willemijn Verkaik Returns To Wicked in January 2017

Willemijn Verkaik returns to Wicked London

Producers have today announced that Willemijn Verkaik will return to the role of Elphaba in Wicked on January 30, 2017. Sue Kelvin will return as Madame Morrible and Sarah McNicholas will join the cast as Nessarose on the same date. Willemijn Verkaik has previously played Elphaba on Broadway, Germany (Stuttgart and Oberhausen), in Holland and in the West End. Willemijn is is the only actor in the show’s history to perform the show in more than one language. She returns to the London production as part of the shows 10th Birthday celebrations. Sue Kelvin returns to the show having starred in her own one-woman show Bette Middler…and Me, whilst Sarah McNicholas comes to the show having recently played the Mistress in Evita at the Dominion Theatre.
