Danny Mac to play Joe Gillis in Sundet Boulevard UK Tour

Producers have announced that Danny Mac has been cast as Joe Gillis in the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard alongside Ria Jones who is playing Norma Desmond. Most recently Danny Mac captured the nation’s hearts and received overwhelming support during his incredible time on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing making it all the way to the final. This month he stars as Gabey in On The Town at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. His other musical theatre credits include Wicked and Legally Blonde. In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world. Impoverished screenwriter, Joe Gillis, on the run from debt collectors, stumbles into her reclusive world. Glenn Close is to make her West End theatre debut in a semi-staged concert production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard at the London Colliseum in April 2016. Tickets are now on sale. Based on Billy Wilder’s classic film, Sunset Boulevard originally premiered in London at the Adelphi Theatre in 1993, where it ran for almost four years and played to nearly two million people. It went on to open on Broadway in 1994 to what was then, the biggest advance in Broadway history, $37.5million. Glenn Close will reprise her role as Norma Desmond, for which she has previously won a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and a Dramalogue Award for the Broadway production directed by Trevor Nunn.
