It’s a fast paced, energetic and supremely satisfying night at the theatre, and I daresay one that people will want to return to such is the joy that it brings.
The new production of the Tony Award-winning musical will open at London’s Savoy Theatre from 19 November 2016. Inspired by R&B music acts in 1960s America, Dreamgirls transports you to a revolutionary time in American music history. Dreamgirls charts the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio, from Chicago, Illinois called ‘The Dreams’, as they learn the hard lesson that show business is as tough as it is fabulous, and features the classic songs ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’, ‘I Am Changing’, ‘Listen’ and ‘One Night Only’ . It was announced today thet Amber Riley will make her West End debut in the UK premiere of the Tony-Award winning Dreamgirls, which is to be presented at The Savoy Theatre from November 2016. Dreamgirls will be directed by Olivier and Tony-Award winning Casey Nicholaw. Best known for her role as Mercedes Jones in the musical comedy sensation Glee, Riley will take on the iconic role of Effie White . Disney Theatrical Productions have announced that Dean John-Wilson will play the role of Aladdin in the West End premiere of Disney’s latest musical hit. Dean will be joined by Jade Ewen as Jasmine, Don Gallagher as Jafar, Peter Howe as Iago, Irvine Iqbal as the Sultan, Nathan Amzi as Babkak, Stephen Rahman-Hughes as Kassim and Rachid Sabitri as Omar. Disney Theatrical has announced that the Tony Award-winning stage musical Aladdin whill begin previews at London’s Prince Edward Theatre from 27 May 2016 with it’s opening night scheduled for Thursday 9 June 2016.
