Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
Relentless Theatre’s creative team share appetite for creating theatre that is vital and resists social taboos. In addition, each member is inspired by theatre that is other than the sum total of its performance but is more of an event. The type of event that relys on the participants and the audience being an intergral and active part of the whole process.

Relentless theatre has four main focus areas, Site specific, Adaptations/ Devising, Educative and Puppetry

Site Specific

Site Specfic theatre offers the opportunity to encourage and invite theatrical conflict and resolution, In a way that is imediate and exhilarating. A project that is developed for or from this enviroment has the ability to empower and educate, while at the same time it encourages a sense of pride and confidence in the individual and his community.

Adaptations/Devising

Relentless Theatre also believe we are living in a world that is constantly changing and adapting. Each generation finds new mediums to express their needs and desires. It is important therefore that Relentless look to other forms of art, culture and communication for theatrical inspiration. This may take the form of a piece of contemporary music (which they have used in previous workshops) a Novel (Geek Love) heritage and traditions (Tin Soldier, Rumplestilskin and the upcoming Du Maurier Project). Whatever the inspiration it is vital that the piece of theatre does not shy away from uncomfortable subject matters nor are we interested in exploiting taboo’s as a form of shock tactic. Instead we want to create theatre that shows the world as it is or as it could be warts and all. And more importantly that we do this in a way that is entertaining, theatrically inventive and thought provoking

Puppetry.

In the Companies use of puppets we believe they offer a exciting theatrical element, create characters that are often accepted more readily when pushing boundaries and when working with young people in particular they offer a safe mediator for which children can securely express their feelings fears hopes and wishes.
My Quick CV
Relentless Theatre are currently working on the following projects : Developing 'Geek Love' into a full length musical- Geek love-The Musical is based on the cult novel of the same name by Katherine Dunn. The next stage of development is with a composer to help structure the script from a music point of view and put music to already written lyrics. This will be developed over a two week workshop period in July.
