Profile Information

What I do... (Actor, director, designer, teacher etc?)
I graduated from QMU's Drama & Theatre Arts with a BA(hons). Since then I have found work with Polish/Scottish Theatre Company GAPPAD as Co-Director & Collaborator.

I am currently employed part-time at Cumbernauld Theatre as the Drama Projects Officer, where I run the youth theatre and occasionally assist the Artistic Director Ed Robson on different projects.

Although my focus has been on developing as a Director I am looking to return to performance; engaging in exciting performance training by David ww Johnston of Lazzi Theatre Co.

The first thing that inspired me in theatre...
Cumbernauld Theatre, the building and atmosphere. I attended the youth theatre from the age of 12 and was encouraged and supported from the day I started.
My favourite theatre something is...
Risk Takers
The thing that annoys me about our industry...
Is being afraid to take risks and the lack of honesty after a production from peers in our industry. If a production doesn't work it is your duty to help improve our industry with your tactful constructive criticism!!

Gappad's Debut Performance!

Gappad's debut performance, RE-ID, enjoyed a successful premiere at the Tron in Glasgow.

A sell out show with a waiting list as long as your arm! What more could you ask for. With some good reviews, and fired debates in the bar afterwards we are more than excited about taking this edgy production to the Fringe! If you missed us at the Tron, this is your chance!

Kat, I saw your posting in the Discussions forum about staging Fairy/Folktales. I'd love to talk to you more about your dissertation, etc. as I'm also very interested in taking those stories in a new direction.

If you haven't read them, yet, there's a great series of Graphic Novels by Bill Willingham called Fables. In these, Prince Charming is a cad who married (and subsequently divorced) Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. Pinnochio's stuck forever as an eight-year-old, etc. Very dark, but funny and engaging as well.

Would love to talk more!
