Over the past six months, we’ve become an ardent fan of some great theatre podcasts. Once you get the hang of the technology there are some great podcasts out there for theatre fans, and we thought we’d list the podcasts that we now make time to listen to. Whilst some have an insider slant, appealing to actors of people within the industry these podcasts we felt would appeal to people who are members of the audience as well as backstage as well. Audra McDonald To Play Limited London Season

Following her sell-out concerts last year, six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will return to London’s West End in April for four concerts at the Leicester Square Theatre in April. Audra will be joined on stage by host and pianist Seth Rudetsky, who last month appeared in and staged the London premiere of his musical Disaster! and husband Will Swenson (the Tony-nominated star of Hair and Priscilla, Queen Of the Desert) will be making a special guest appearance. Audra will be singing some of the biggest hits from her musical theatre repertoire, with some great behind-the-scenes stories from one of Broadway’s biggest stars. The Hamilton Mixtape, a new album featuring artists from the worlds of rap, pop and R & B, putting their own unique stamp on the songs from Hamilton, is being presented today in a live-streamed concert at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. The Hamilton Mixtape features artists including The Roots, Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Ashanti, John Legend, Andra Day, Dessa and Watsky amongst others is being released tomorrow. Copies can be purchased from Amazon.co.uk. Hamilton broke box-office records this week when it made the most money ever in a single week by a Broadway show, a whopping $3.3 million. Hamilton beat Wicked which held the record at $3.2 million made during a week where it held 9 performances, one more than in a normal performance week. Rufus Hound will host a charitable concert on the Sunday before Christmas (18 December 2016) at The Actor’s Church in Covent Garden featuring an incredible line up of musical theatre stars. The concert will be held in aid of Children with Cancer UK. Rufus Hound will be joined by Ramin Karimloo, Cassidy Janson, Ben Forster, Emma Kingston, Peter Polycarpou, Sandra Marvin, Jordan Shaw, Emmanuel Kojo, Carole Stennett, Norman Bowman, and Chris Johnson. The concert will also feature the Musical Theatre Masterclass Choir – a group of talented students from the London performing arts school, run by Michael Xavier. Whilst not officially theatre, the new film features some of the best musical theatre talent from the West End and Broadway. Broadway leading lady Laura Osnes will join Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn will make their UK concert debuts in a one night only evening celebrating Frank’s music entitled An Evening with Frank Wildhorn and Friends on Tuesday 22 November 2016 at The Palace Theatre, Manchester.
